Spell levels aren't the same as character levels.

• They range from 0 (cantrips) to 9

Every spellcasting class except warlock has a spell slot table.

• Casting a spell expends that slot
• Long resting restores spell slots
• Some spells are more powerful when cast at higher levels
• Cantrips don't use spell slots
• Spells generally need to be prepared
  • Prepared spells can be changed at the end of a long rest

You must be proficient in the armour you're wearing to cast spells

The same effects of a spell don't overlap, e.g. a character can't be Blessed twice
